The official name of the chemical formula of silicone is polysiloxane or polymerized "siloxances". Silicones are mixed inorganic-organic polymers with the chemical formula [R2SiO]n, where R is an organic group such as ethyl or phenyl. These materials consist of an inorganic silicon-oxygen backbone (⋯-Si-O-Si-O-Si-O-⋯) with organic side groups attached to the silicon atoms, which are four-coordinate. The source of the material is similar to glass, from silica (SiO2) which is basically sand.
Silicone is found in many applications in medical, healthcare, household and consumer applications and the following can provide a better picture of its properties.
Silicone is a natural material with the density higher than the average plastic, it is a non-ordinary plastic. Silicone is also toxic-free to humans and can withstand extremely high temperatures.
It is a popular material for making kitchenware because of its outstanding performance in food contact properties.
For the past 10 years, Siliconezone has developed a great number and range of products and thus becoming one of the leaders in the market of silicone made houseware.
